VQA: A New Chapter

Today we’re really proud to announce VQA – the next chapter and evolution of TQUK.

When we founded TQUK in 2013, we made a commitment to do more. More for vocational learners, more for providers, and more for the sector.

Keeping up with the status quo wasn’t an option for us. Customer service had to be faster and more supportive. Qualifications and apprenticeships had to be fit for purpose and directly linked to real-world outcomes, and sector reforms had to work for the people they were meant to help.

VQA builds on everything that makes TQUK successful; giving providers, employers, and learners an edge with the passion and ambition that has always driven us forward.

But VQA isn’t just a new name. It’s a statement about who we are, what we stand for, and where we’re heading.

VQA is our commitment to keep pushing forward, keep challenging what good looks like, and keep setting the standard in vocational excellence.

Why VQA and why now?

The vocational landscape is changing at pace, with major reforms in FE and apprenticeships creating opportunities alongside challenges for providers.

Providers need more than qualifications and apprenticeship assessments.

They need clarity on what’s changing, confidence in the partner they choose, and an AO that understands the realities of delivering high-quality assessment.

TQUK set out to do things differently. To challenge convention and go above and beyond for learners. VQA builds on that legacy of innovation, responsiveness, and expertise to help shape the future of vocational education.

With the change that’s happening, now is the right time for the brand to reflect the organisation we’re becoming, showcasing the ambition that drives us forward.

Through all this change, VQA will continue setting the bar in vocational education.

Key actions and information for providers

  • We ask that you update any reference to TQUK to VQA and update any logos to reflect VQA branding. We have created a checklist for organisations that can be found here. Logos and general brand guidelines can be found here, in our VQA Brand Guidelines.

  • Qualification numbers will not change, and we will work with sector and industry bodies that have approved or endorsed our qualifications to switch to VQA.

  • We’ll communicate any specific administrative updates that may be relevant to you, including the phasing in of new resources via consistent communications. All current in-depth guidance for providers and learners can be found on our Service Hub.

  • UCAS points remain the same, as the qualification number is not changing. While the name will update to VQA on the calculator, the TQUK versions still remain valid.

  • Our SLAs and processes will remain the same.

What to expect

Most importantly, you will see continuity in service, and we will be maintaining our usual high standards and SLAs.

Though it’s a new name, it's still us.

The same people. The same values. The same commitment to vocational education. We see VQA as a statement about where we're headed next rather than a replacement for TQUK, as we've achieved a lot in our 13 years as TQUK. Just this year we have:

We certified our 1 millionth learner, and last month, we hit the milestone of 100,000 apprentice registrations. Our pass-rates continue to speak for themselves, with an increase from 90% to 94%.

As we look ahead to 2027, we're ready for more and are excited about this next step.
